Pretty Beautiful Unlimited: Pokémon Duo – February 2019 Polish Pickup

*Press Sample

February Polish Pickup theme is Famous Duos. Pretty Beautiful Unlimited picked a really cool duo to create into polish.

It was suggested in the Pretty Beautiful Pawlish Facebook group to use the sun and moon as inspiration. Virginia took that idea and kicked it up a notch using Pokémon Sun and Moon as her inspiration.

I’m super thrilled to share this duo with you! Pokémon has become a fun family filled time in my house. All my boys love the trading cards and watching the cartoon, and my husband and I participate playing Pokémon Go. The family regularly goes out for spins, gifts, raids and to catch a rare spawn.

Yes, we’re those people you see congregating at parks and stores, tapping wildly at our screens and getting excited when we “catch” that new Pokémon. There is no shame here!

To keep you from giving me major side eye, we’ll jump right in to the polish.

Here’s a quick run down on how Polish Pickup works.

How it works!

First: Vote on a theme

Next: Watch as makers create based on the theme

Finally: SHOP! The first Friday – Monday of the month is shopping time! Choose from as few or as many brands as you like and shop with the convenience of flat rate shipping.

Overview

For the Pokémon Duo, Solgaleo represents the sun and Lunala represents the moon.

Solgaleo, with a mane that resembles the sun, has long been an honored emissary of the sun and is known as the beast that devours the sun. Solgaleo’s body retains energy and shines brightly when it is released.

Lunala, with wings that resembles the crescent moon, has long been an honored emissary of the moon and is known as the beast that calls the moon. Lunala absorbs light and converts it to energy. When Lunala spreads its wings it looks like the night sky.

Solgaleo & Lunala

Now, my fellow Pokémon people! I know when you see the names of the polish you might think “Those aren’t their signature moves!” while angrily shaking your fists. Even though this is very true, there is a reason we didn’t go with the names of their signature moves. We wanted the polish to be all inclusive, even to those that aren’t into Pokémon. With that in mind we chose names from a move each ‘mon does use but is also everyone friendly.

Release Information: The Sun & Moon Duo is available a little different this month. Solar Beam will be available on the Polish Pickup website from Friday, February 1st at 11:00am eastern time through Monday, February 4th at 11:59pm eastern time. Price is $11.50 and there is a cap of 125 bottles. Moonblast will be available on the Pretty Beautiful Unlimited website starting Friday, February 1st. Price is $11.50 and there is no cap.

Solar Beam

This is a creamy white leaning grey crelly with a sprinkle of gunmetal and silver holographic microflakies, six different types of ucc flakies and a dusting of cyan to indigo aurora shimmer that is subtle but eye-catching. These flakies are LIFE! Application is perfect and so is the formula. Solar Beam dries to a satin finish without top coat and is perfectly opaque in two coats. You know I had to do some Pokémon art! I don’t have theme specific plates and I’m not much of a freehand artist but I was able to do some art that I think would make Solgaleo and Lunala proud!

Moonblast

Moonblast is a denim holographic blue with blue/purple/red/gold multichrome pigment, microflakies and two different types of crystal chameleon flakies. I’ve noticed denim leaning blues seem to be my favorite. Thre is a great balance in the color and the way the flakies layer it almost gives a pond mani look without the translucent jelly base. Again a perfect formula with flawless application. Moonblast dries to a satin finish without top coat and only needs two coats for full opacity.
